just met a melon I didn't like
I bought a watermelon at Trader Joes the other day and finally got around to cutting it open, only to discover....there are black seeds inside! What?! I guess I should have read the sign at the store more closely but seriously who doesn't sell seedless watermelon these days? I assumed this melon was like all the rest, seedless and easy to eat. Um, I guess it reminds me of being kid, spittin black seeds on the ground. But getting all those little seeds out of each bite so that Lucy will actually eat it?....tedious. Hasn't farming improved beyond this?

Chalk it up to the whole "Organic" movement, I say. Trader Joe's wants to be considered all "natural" and stuff, so they can't be selling futuristic fruit.
Oh a positive note...The black and red look so great together!
It's true. The red with black seeds do look authentic. I guess it will make more sense to Lucy's little eyes.
I guess I don't buy watermelons enough, cause I still thought they came with black seeds. Weird. But now that I think about it, the watermelon we had last week was seedless.
