The Audience is listening

Lucy's finally at that age where she's really aware of/hearing/processing all that's going on around her. Casey and I can no longer talk about her in the front seat of the car, without her picking up on it. Her fox ears hear it all. She's a sponge. And it's only the beginning of the rest of her life.

SO, time for us to be more careful with what she hears and sees...since these two things happened recently, which were kind of funny but made me aware of the fact.

* On Saturday Lucy was watching a cartoon on youtube (which we had turned on for her) and when it was done she started clicking around on the site.
"What's she watching?" I asked Casey.
"I think she found a Dora clip."
"Okay".

When I checked on her a few minutes later, sure enough she was watching Dora.....or something called "Dora on Heroin". And the related videos next to it said, "Dora the alcoholic", "Dora smokes Pot."
Nice.
"Mom, I was watching Dora! But it was a little bit different," Lucy informed me.

* Today in the car a Justin Timberlake song came on the radio, so I turned it up.
Lucy asked, "Mom, what's this song called."
Hmmm.
How do I disguise or shorten the name "I'm bringing Sexy Back"?
I was stumped, "um....it's called Hey Hey".

dumb name.

lol. Don't you love their innocence and want to keep it that way forever?
Makenna loves to sing along to our music in the car- it has for sure made me more aware of what I am listening to!
And Lucy looks so much like you, especially in the picture on the right!

I love it! And I'm glad I'm not the only one...Dakota saw a commercial for "Juno" and asked me how a teenager got pregnant without being married. That was a fun little conversation!

Lucy is a smartie!

It's so hard, isn't it? We have to guard their little eyes and ears. I am really picky about what I listen to when the kids are in earshot, that's for sure. That means not listening to some of my favorite music, which stinks.

Your new song title made me giggle. And I don't giggle that often.

Funny, my girlfriend's daughter was singing the "al, al, al, al, al" part of the "blame it on the alcohol" song the other day. I think I'll just stick to NPR for now.
