we're family

With every single sibling, in-law, and grandchild in town this past weekend, we took family pictures with my extended family. The colors were: black, white, and brick red, which really looked beautiful together and a bit formal. We saw some proofs that afternoon and I think there are some keepers! With 5 very little kids involved....it wasn't easy. No official pictures yet but a medley of candids instead.

Lucy and Ava (with Lucy wearing this dress, made for the occasion). These two are becoming cute friends as they get older. They like to act goofy together and watch movies in Grams garage:
My oldest sister Saunja, who lives with her family in Idaho, and my dad (wearing this tie. Cute idea Dad):
My mom and Meredith:
My sister-in-law Sara (Mark's wife) and their cute little girl Makenna:
All the men. From left to right: Brinton (Saunja's 15 year old son), Casey, Dennis (Saunja's husband), Bryan (Camille's husband), Mark (my youngest brother), my Dad, and Eric (just 3 years younger than me):
And just a few of the girls, Camille, Saunja, Me, Laura (Eric's wife), Ava, and Lucy's head:
more of the ladies:
There were many moments like this:
But when we finally went into the studio, the kids ran to the little stools and thought it was great fun (for the first 5 minutes, that is):
The dressy occasion warranted a group shot doing "the casey face" (also known as "the rich man in a bathrobe expression"):
Eric was nominated the winner:
As a reward to the kids for sitting through pictures, we let them run through the mall afterward:
ride on the merry-go-round:
and we got See's candies! Lucy got to sit on "the king chair":
and they finished up their suckers in the car. Holy moly. In Eric's words, "Owen's like the slob king who's just eaten a huge feast and doesn't care that he's all messy":
After a quick bath, all was well back at Gram's house. Lucy snuggled up on the floor with her favorite dumbo and pulled the blanket up (in 100 degree temperatures). We love being part of this fun, crazy, black white and red family!

Despite family pictures ALWAYS being at least a little hectic, it looks like a fun day with the fam! You and your sisters are so freaking gorgeous, I can't even stand it. I'm with Rebecca...can't wait to see the pics!

I can't wait to see the finished product, from the candids, it looks like this was a great color scheme. Love Lucy's dress, another winner!

I am loving Lucy's dress...can't take my eyes off it. So darling. Can't wait to see the results but I thought I was the only crazy who gave my child a See's candy pop. When it is serious bribe time I pull those things out because they last forever and yes they are a mess but really isn't the silence worth it?
