Sorry I've been so cankery

I've been kinda cranky for the past week...and all because of two little white dots.
I have two canker sores on the inside of my bottom lip and they've been stinging me all week! I've had cankers before but these are in such an awkward place, right in the front of my mouth. I can't avoid them. It hurts to talk, sing, brush my teeth, drink water, eat food (esp if it's salty). Ahhhh. Seriously, they're so small, yet so annoying. When I was younger, my mom had us take acidophilus pills (the bacteria found in yogurt) to get rid of our canker sores. I think it helped. Maybe it was all in my mind. My only saving grace is spraying Chloraseptic on the sores every few hours. It seems to numb the sting.
Apparently, women are most susceptible to getting them, they're hereditary (my family gets them too), and one bonus: they're not contagious.
I almost considered taking a picture for you all...but that's just too gross. And I know many of you have been there. Amazing that such little buggers can create such discomfort. I guess I have a low threshold for complaining about physical ailments. Jack Bauer (and the Pioneers) would be disappointed.

weird! Mark has 3 of them right now too... his don't seem quite so bothersome, but still annoying. I told him he should swig some salt water, and he told me "no, it's okay I am eating lots of yogurt." Never heard that before, but hey, maybe it does work!

Casey told me to put some salt on it also! (He gets them too)...but that sounds too painful. I've had cankers in the past. But I think these ones are worse because of where they are right in the front of my mouth. I can't avoid them.

I can empathize with you! My mom used to make us eat yogurt (it really works)or put a dab of alum powder on it. The alum powder kills like crazy, but it will clear it right up. Licorice root is a new treatment, too!

boo, sorry! canker sores suck...maybe even worse than a wisdom tooth! hope they clear up soon. don't worry, i def think you're just as tough as the pioneers...maybe not quite jack bauer, but those handcart peeps got nothing on you :)

I get them all the time, too. No fun. There is this great stuff you can buy, ZILACTIN, over the counter. Although pricey, it totally numbs it and creates a little layer that covers the sore. I apply it before eating and before bed.

Good luck!

I feel your pain, I get those all the time. Sometimes putting a Tums right on the sore until it dissolves helps it clear up. Good luck!

i also et them all the time...when i eat fresh pineapple and tomatoes. if i rinse my mouth out after i eat them i usually won't get a kanker. but you know when you are going to get them, and when i feel it comin on i take a lysine (i think that's how you spell it) and the kanker is gone the next morning. if i don't take one in time, and i already have the kanker it usually cuts the pain in half. i absolutely swear by it.

who knew there was so many different remedies for cankers. I will have to tell my sister about this post and all the healings agents. When she gets them she really gets them. a few months ago she had 26 at one time!!! she was told she her body was lacking minerals she needed and was given a shot of them and they cleared right up.

good luck to you while you heal. salt does work!

So I also get canker's that affect my mood. Zilactin is really good stuff. The tube lasts forever....although I only get them every 4 or 5 months. They literally are gone in two days. No need to wait out the week or so it takes to heel on their own. I also just bought something from oragel that is supposed to work similar to Zilactin except it is in the form of little discs that dissolve. They look a little easier to apply. Anyway I haven't used them yet. I am just waiting for one to pop up! Good luck
