Pouring

This sunday afternoon as we danced around the house to Disney songs, we heard the rain pounding on the roof. So we went outside to see the pour-down. Lucy tried to gather raindrops in her hands.
and then she dipped her whole head in (now she's sitting in a nice warm bath).
How fun rainy days can be, especially when we're in an actual home. That may sound weird but as we watched the raindrops fall, Casey turned me and said, there's just something about not being in that old drafty apartment on a rainy day that makes it more charming. I totally agree. It's nice to know that water's not seeping in through old creeky windows.
Now I just want to curl up on the couch, watch movies, and eat homemade gingerbread with whipped cream. That was what my mom often had waiting for us on a rainy school day. What a wonderful welcome home after sitting on the stuffy/fogged-up school bus for an hour and walking from the bus stop with our Sesame Street umbrellas. Of course after drying off and eating warm gingerbread, it was back out to play in flooded street gutters. Oh, life as a kid.

I am not a fan of apartment living for lack of the sound of rain on the roof and a host of other reasons. I can't wait for the next time we have a real front door. So happy you guys are loving life in your new home every chance you get.

Yay!! I LOVE big rainstorms!! I agree about enjoying them more in a nice, cozy house. During one long rainstorm here, our walls actually started seeping. I had to tape papertowels to the walls to keep the water from dripping down to the floor. (A lot of people say that our apartment has "character," but there's a fine line between "character" and "a piece of crap.") :-)

Ah yes, cold rainy days... she would also have homemade bread and freezer strawberry jam for us too. I love rainy days. I also remember having Top Ramen and hot chocolate and then being sick to my stomach. I'm glad you had a cozy, fun day in your beautiful HOME!

I Love rainy days! I used to run on the paddles when I was a kid and it was so much fun! I wish I had a house too but for now we are stuck in the small apartment! In Florida when it rains you can hear the rain even in the apartment because it POURS so hard!
I grew up in the apartment (it is very common in Europe) I remember watching rain through the widows but for some reason it is not the same here.. And I don`t know why.. May be it is not HOME ... May be..
