Pillows are cheap

Casey needed a new pillow. His old one was completely worn out and not worth saving. We threw it away. He and I have different tastes in pillows...I like feather pillows you can mold around your head. He prefers really flat simple ones.
So I wondered where I could buy a real flat pillow. Seems that most pillows are advertised as fluffy and full (um, sounds more like an IBS commercial.) But Casey advised, "I think you just have to buy a cheap pillow and it will flatten down over time".
So I went to Bed Bath and Beyond first and found their cheapest pillow for $9.99. Sold! I had no idea it would be such a steal! But then next I went to Target for some other shopping and decided to check their bedding department. There in the front aisle was $4.99 for a standard pillow! WOW. It felt like a ripoff, like I should just give Target a few dollars extra to help cover their shipping costs or something. I mean, 5 dollars for a pillow? Seriously. I know labor overseas is cheap. But are they making any profit?
Well, at this rate, I told Casey he could have a new pillow every 6 months if he wanted. Of course, that's probably when the new one would just be flattened to his liking.

Funny, I didn't really think anyone would comment on this post. But 5 minutes after posting, 2 family members have piped in! Pillow preference must define us in some small way.
And yea, I think feather pillows run in the Suman family.

I love how the most random posts seem to generate the most passionate responses!

Aaron mocks me regularly for my strange pillow habits. I have two. And a body pillow. That number is likely to increase as my bump gets more and more intrusive.

ah yes, I forgot about pregnancy pillows. I used 4 pillows when I was pregnant....3 to prop me up and one behind my back.
Good luck with the pillows Teresa!

I would not fit in with the Suman clan. I hate feather pillows. I am not fond of flat pillows wither. I like a good fat pillow though. That's funny you mentioned how cheap they are. Nate and I waited forever to replace our pillows. When finally got new ones I was surprised at how cheap they were and was sort of annoyed that we took so long to get them.

pillows are cheap and yes the flat ones will be the cheapest...or the ones that will quickly become flat. I know this because I have to have a flat pillow. I don't know if I would like a feather pillow. I have never had one. I know I don't like a big fluffy pillow.

I so wish my favorite pillows were only $5 at Target. I'm with you on the feather side all the way- they just have a bigger price tag! Funny, Laura- I totally remember you having flat pillows.

I'm with Casey. Anytime I go out of town I get a neck ache. Hotel pillows are always too big for me. I would never buy a $10 pillow, though. I always looks for the cheapest ones at Target. I thought they had some $2.99 or $3.99 ones, though. $4.99 is sounding pricey to me!
