Saturday

We were planning to have a date night on Saturday night, but with sick/cranky kids we decided it wasn't the best idea for anyone. Instead ,we had a family outing to the westside. We've been craving our favorite pizza place: Rocco's. So....we went! It was a drive but worth it:For being HUGE pizza lovers, we don't even order pizza there!...because their calzones are TO DIE for. The best one is the Pepperoni:
Look at that melty cheese!!! YUM. There's some ricotta in there too:
After the juggling act of eating with our two kids we stopped at a nearby park. The weather on the westside was perfect, at least 15 degrees cooler than we're used to:
Any park near the Miracle Mile has all sorts of interesting people hanging out. I love a group of old men, sitting around playing Backgammon (and exchanging money on the side). Makes me laugh:
Their wives found other activities to occupy their time:
What a good dad, playing soccer with your kid...oh, and teaching all about the importance of beer:Lucy's new favorite past-time is looking for STOP signs. She learned about "octagons" on Sesame Street and cannot stop saying that word. When she sees a sign she yells out "OTTAGON!" followed up by "S-T-O-P, spells, Stop!" It's really cute. In fact I sense a Halloween Costume idea coming on....
So here she is looking for Octagons:

Found one! That night we watched one of Lucy's little friends while her parents went on a date. She and Lucy are two months apart and were so cute together; really interacting and laughing together. I love to see kids making friends:
And I guess she's more spiritual than Lucy:
More weekend updates to come!

fun...that calzone looked delicious, but the old ladies all crammed on the bench is my favorite part.

first of all STOP posting pictures of food you know I will want and cannot find! :)

secondly, the irony of going out to dinner with kids now is that it takes twice as long as it used to because you have to take turns eating and wrestling - we probably eat earlier than anyone else in the whole of South America as a result!

also, thanks for shaming Camille into inviting me to view her blog - she says she was glad to, but... :)

Never been to Rocco's, but have heard it's so good. Next time I'm there, I'll have to check it out. That calzone looks disgustingly good and greasy!

Hmmm, never tried Rocco's, but I do love La Monicas in Westwood (and then over to Diddy Reese afterwards). I'll have to check it out sometime.

Cute post!
