Back to life

For the past 4 1/2 days, Owen has looked like this. Not a single smile:
Today, after his nap however, he looked like this!
It's been a rough 5 days. Owen came down with stomach flu Wednesday night and could not kick it until today. He has been uncomfortable (even when holding him), throwing up every day, crying, waking up at all hours, and has felt down right miserable. Poor little thing; not a clue what was going on.
We took him to the dr. on Friday (after he had cried for 4 straight hours at home) to make sure nothing else was going on. But they said it was just horrible stomach flu and gave us a sympathetic pat on the back. I came down with it later that night, but thankfully it lasted for less than a day.
I'm not sure why it lingered so long with Owen but I think we're back in the swing of things. He's had rice cereal, applesauce, and diluted formula and he's kept it all down! (hallelujah since he started to refuse pedialyte after 2 days of drinking it).
The poor little guy has probably lost a pound from it though. He looks skinnier to me.
I'm so happy to see him crawling around and interested in toys. And I'm thrilled that he hasn't thrown-up in over a day (fingers crossed).

The bright-side of it all:

  • Neither Lucy nor Casey came down with it. SUCH a blessing.
  • As The Devil Wears Prada put it, "I'm one stomach flu away from my goal weight". Let's just say that my pants fit better today! (and my abs feel solid)
  • Owen went down for bed at 7pm with no complaints. Haven't heard a thing from him yet.
  • Today was the most beautiful California day: chilly in the morning, warmed-up by the afternoon to the high 70s, and by 5pm we had perfectly pleasant weather for a park trip. There was even a gorgeous full-moon out.
So, things are looking up!
We have our lives back.

I'm so glad he's starting to feel better! Poor little guy! It's so sad when a young'n gets sick, because it's not like they know what's wrong with them. Aww! Way to keep that food down now! Yay smiles!!

YAY! So glad he is getting back to normal...poor guy. And yes, so glad that Lucy and Casey didn't get it.

Nothing's worse then sick kids (except maybe a sick husband). I'm glad he's feeling better. I think your kids get cuter every time I see them...

Glad that he's feeling better! Call me crazy---Sarah's been a little down and out herself lately and the extra cuddling has been enjoyed by mom! :) The top picture of Casey with Owen reminded me of that.

Too bad I'd need many days of flu to feel super comfy in my pants.
